corvette servo 700r4 and .500 boost valve

I ran it up as high as 75mph and unless I backed WAY off the throttle it won't upshift. At 60, just the slightest touch of the accelerator causes it to downshift into 3rd, and stay there. It will not hold od at anything over 60mph. I did drive it farther today, and found another interesting problem. I piddled with the TV cable adjustment a bit today (tightened it up per bowtie overdrives suggestions) which helped considerably with the shift quality, but I still get a bit of 2-3 flair up. Is this tranny junk? I was wondering if the extra power from the mods/repairs I did to the engine might have caused the slippage (hard to believe with a worn out 305), or if maybe something is off in the TV setup? I contacted bowtie overdrives today but couldn't reach anybody, and am really curious to know what these readings are telling me. I have no idea what a good pressure is for these things. The instructions called for a 0-300 psi gauge, and obviously I was nowhere near the high end of that. In any of the forward gears, I would get a wildly fluctuating measurement, and then if the rpms was increased just slightly, the pressure would suddenly drop and stabalize around 90psi. The high idle (roughly 1500 rpms) readings are strange though. Pressure at high idle w/TV held wide openĪll the readins with a range on them indicate that the needle was fluctuating while reading the pressures. I have triple checked everything and it is set up properly. I did verify that the slightest movement of the TV cable causes an instant pressure rise out of the tranny. There is some adjustment built into the BO TV system, but that just seems to make it worse. It doesn't feel like it is slipping, just mushy shifting.

At heavier throttle opening, it actually 'flares up' quite noticeably between the 2-3 shift (meaning the engine rpms jump quite a bit between gears). Now, the tranny shifts at about the right rpms, and the kick down works fine, as does the 4th gear lockup and unlock function, but now the shifts seem mushier than before. I fixed all the engine problems and added the above aftermarket tranny parts to make the tranny function with the non stock carb. It shifted fine with the very sick 305 (leaking carb, plugged exhaust, and froze up HEI).

When I aquired the truck, the tranny shifted well enough.typical stock shift feel. stock 305 with weiand 8004, 600 edel, stock 700r4, all set up with a bowtie overdrives TV cable setup and 4th gear lockup system. I finally got the '86 3/4 ton back on the street today.
